For as far back as I can remember I loved drawing and paints and crayons. I would draw pictures of queens, princesses and kings. Always dressing them in ermine trimmed robes or capes. Once when I was 9 years old I received a blue ribbon at school for a drawing and watercolor of a woodland scene. I was so proud. Also, it gave me the boost needed to continue my art.

After marrying and moving to upstate New York I needed a painting for my expected baby’s room and my husband gave me his oil paints, a canvas and some brushes. I painted a child clown with a brown puppy. I was hooked on painting again.

Over the years, after my diagnosis of Acute Intermittent Porphyria, I began painting again. It gave me a way to occupy my mind during confinement from illness. I can get lost in a painting for days and some times I forget everything else but where the next tree should go or the color of the sky right at sunset. I like mixed media too. Bits of paper, cloth, lace, ribbon etc. are lovely to me and I use them with acrylic paints to complete a scene or complete a look on my paper dolls.

Art is my therapy, creating, choosing colors and mixing them is a passion. Having someone enjoy what I have produced is a blessing.
