My name is Bryce Czekanski and I am 12 years old. I was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder when I was four years old. This genetic disorder is called Hurler-Scheie. I began receiving weekly IV infusions of a synthetic drug called Aldurazyme to help treat this disorder as there currently is no cure. I go to the hospital every Tuesday and as my treatments last any where between six and eight hours I need to find ways to keep myself busy. During these hours my Dad began to teach me a few things about drawing and now I find myself drawing to keep busy; however, I do enjoy drawing just for fun even with my crooked fingers. My favorite thing to draw is cartoon characters, whether it is characters from comic books, TV or ones I create on my own. Someday I would like to create a book about cartoon characters or actually do the illustrations for someone that has written a children's book. For the contest I chose to submit a drawing of a character I created called "The Curing Wizard" as I thought this wizard could be helpful for all sick children that I see each week at hospital. The second drawing I decided to do as I was sitting at my kitchen table one day looking at our living room.
