During one of the many rough points in my journey with Hereditary Coproporphyria (HCP), was being told that I would possibly be wheel chair bound. For a twenty two year old former dancer with a very active lifestyle, this was devastating news with still no diagnosis. The drawing symbolizes the comfort I had despite all the ugliness I experience living with an undiagnosed disease. As I was finishing my water color, I was overcome with emotion. The larger water drops are my actual tears falling on the paper, I sprinkled water to complete the piece. Because of my strong faith in God and always holding tight to hope, I was able to find "Peace in the Midst of Despair". I was finally diagnosed with HCP in 2006, my art continues to be an outlet for dealing with my disease.
