On June 27, 1990, I was born with a rare metabolic disorder called Phenylketonuria. It is a genetic disease that involves the liver not being able to process an essential amino acid in protein. In my life I had to manage everything that I put into my body and live off a restricted diet to sustain a normal lifestyle. Living with this disorder, I have learned to cherish everyday that I am given, and live life to the fullest. I have found art to be that outlet for me to express myself and create something inspiring for everyone to enjoy. No matter how hard it gets with the food, the doctor appointments, and the medicine I can always grab a pencil and do something that I truly love. The piece that I have submitted is a pencil drawing of a Mercedes-Benz. I drew this piece for an art class at school, and I used a Mercedes advertisement to replicate. My goal was to put as much detail into the drawing as possible, and make the car come to life on the page. The shadows below the car give it some depth on the page, and the bright reflection of the grill and the lights give the car the proper metallic reflection. After putting in all the effort in to the drawing I believe that I created a spitting image Mercedes that epitomizes my realistic drawing style.
