Creative expression, using fibers and textiles, has been an important part of my life from an early age. In addition to color, the tactile nature of fabrics and yarns appeals to many senses which is particularly rewarding. Textiles also easily lend themselves to providing texture through fabric manipulation, the addition of paint, dyes, inks, and embellishments. Art is a valuable means of exploring the intangible elements of life that are essential to our health and well-being. Being a parent of 2 adult children with a rare syndrome has made me value the components of a balanced life. Creative expression through textile art is an outlet which enables me to sustain this balance while providing for the long-term physical, emotional, and psychological care of our children.
