I am a woman, an artist who works in glass, and a free bleeder; I have ITP; ITP does not have me.  In this work the three representations all speak their own message; the first is a blue open faced cast and is perhaps the truest representation of my physical self.  The cracks and flaws reflect the cracks and flaws in the facade of "self" that is shown to the world.  The second is a float glass mask that represents the mask that is sometimes worn and sometimes removed.  These two elements can nest together as a masked face, or apart to reflect true self unmasked but with the mask close at hand.  The third is a clear box casting, cast to a depth that leaves the tip of my nose actually protruding from the surface of the glass with the image of my face almost drowning, and represents a feeling of loss of self, of being drowned in outer concerns beyond my control, but ultimately I rise above those concerns to surface whole and intact.  I have ITP; ITP does not have me.
