My name is J.T. McNeil and I am a 16 year old guy that battles 2 rare diseases, Interstitial Cystitis and Eosinophilic Esophagitis. Because of these two conditions I often don't have a lot of energy, so I do art work because I can sit when I do it and it relaxes me. This piece I call THE INITIALS because it is a self-portrait of sorts. My name is initials and both of my diseases are often referred to by their initials so it woudl be J.T., IC and EE. Often times I feel taped together with all the medication I take to stay well and this his art project is done with duct tape and cork board that are also pieced and taped together. The blue eyes in the tree represent the me trapped inside the body of the tree that is shedding leaves of fire. IC causes a lot of burning pain and of all my art work I thought this really represented my dealing with my health issues. I hope you like it.
