My daughter Edie lived to be almost 10. She suffered from a degenerative genetic disorder that slowly ate away at her abilities. In spite of her progressive limitations, her spirit continued to blossom and shine brightly. After Edie's death in 2008 I had a huge box of sympathy cards full of gorgeous images and thoughts. I had an overwhelming desire to make beauty of the grief and hope contained in that box. The outcome was several smaller collages given to family members and this one that resides in my home. Those collages and Edie's magnificent spirit inspired me to create; Edie's siblings and I continue to paint and create in her former bedroom today.
