My name is Jackie Elizabeth Davenport and I am afflicted with a number or rare diseases. These include conditions like Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Interstitial Cystitis, Gastroesophageal Reflux, Irritable Bowl, Hypoglycemia and Vulvovaginitis. Because of these illnesses I have numerous limitations that I must deal with on a regular basis. Some of these include: inability to sleep properly, tire easily, often require special/modified clothing, inability to tolerate most foods, and loss of quality of life due to chronic pain. Despite all this, I still continue to create art. It is something I have loved since I was a little girl drawing ketchup bottles on napkins at coffee shops with my parents.

I still draw today, but some of my favorite works are my paintings. Each piece takes hundreds of hours of work and contains special meaning for me. For example, ‘The Joker’ was painted in honor of my brother. He has been a kind and supportive person to me, through all my diseases, and I wanted him to know how much he means to me. All of my paintings are now done from the floor or bed where I can more comfortably sit and work; it has been many years since I have been able to paint standing up. Despite this, I will continue to paint for as long as I shall live.
