My daughter really taught me to notice the beauty in small things. In her final years she could pass many hours on a nice day sitting peacefully on the front porch in her wheelchair. Sometimes I wondered how she did it. But gradually I discovered that when you really slow down, there is so much beauty in the sky or the motion of a leaf falling or, in the case of this painting, small blooms preparing to erupt.

Last summer I progressed from creating collages to painting the sky in acrylics. I love the spontaneity and imagination in capturing the sky. The "tighter" side of me then takes over to find something that will compliment that particular sky.

Of the paintings I completed so far, this one brings me the most joy. I donated it to a local charity for children.
