I was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis in June of 2008. My experience with a life - threatening illness has allowed me to grow and has changed me in such a positive way! One of the biggest lessons I have learned is not to take life for granted and enjoy every second you have. During chemotherapy, I did lose my hair. It was a big adjustment, and having been 2 1/2 years in remission, it is still tough to talk about or even realize. But I learned to love my body even though I was bald. I realized it isn't your appearence that counts, it is your heart. The theme of this piece is to love your body, whatever it may be. You are made the way you are for a reason, love youself. We are challenged in life with whatever it may be, take the positives from it, love yourself. Love your body.
