Unlike many women diagnosed with LAM, I am fortunate. Because of my age...71...I experience LAM much differently. I have remained moderately unaffected, although this can change dramatically. I am, therefore, constantly aware of the devastation this orphan disease can cause.

As well, I am constantly aware of the daily struggle my younger "Sisters with LAM" undergo. Their courage and optimism is inspiring.

I live with this disease...and conquer it's grip by: painting, singing in a Symphony Choir, reading, and exercising. These activities are life affirming.

I paint people, mainly women. The paintings sometimes, as this one does, depict sadness or melancholia, but most of my paintings are colorful...and hopeful. Like portraitists everywhere I see the world through my subject's eyes, body language and life experiences.

I am an artist above all. LAM will not change that!
